Next Steps into Adulthood

July 22, 2022    |    9:00 AM 12:00 PM EDT

The transition into adulthood and away from many of the supports we have come to rely on can be daunting, but can also be a time for growth and new opportunity. At CAR, our commitment to families, individuals and professionals reaches beyond just the childhood years and we strive to support the community throughout the lifespan. If your child or the individuals you support are approaching this pivotal period of transition, please consider joining us for our upcoming workshop.

This workshop is designed for both autistic youth and the adults in their lives who support them and will focus on providing an overview of some of the factors to consider when transitioning into the adult world. There will be two separate tracks for the day – one for the autistic youth in attendance and one for parents, caregivers and professionals. Presenters will share ideas, resources and tools covering topics such as setting reasonable expectations and goals, financial planning and promoting self-advocacy and independence.

Cost

  • Parents, Caregivers and Professionals: $15 – Does not include parking, which is available in the visitor’s lot at a reduced rate. Autistic youth and self-advocates are free of charge.

Please note: This workshop is being planned as an in-person event and masks will be required. The event could be transitioned to a virtual workshop, to be held during the same time and date. Participants will be given ample notice.

Requests for language interpreter or other accommodation services must be received 2 weeks in advance of the workshop.

Please contact Susannah Horner at horners@chop.edu or (267) 426-4910 with any questions.

**If you register but cannot attend, we can apply your payment to a future workshop.
