SUMMARY:Connect and Learn MeetUp (CALM)
DESCRIPTION:Post-event resources\n\n\n\nThank you again for joining us for the Neurodiversity Employment Network of Philadelphia’s Connect & Learn Meetup at West Chester University. \n\n\n\nAs a follow up\, we wanted to share a few post-event resources to encourage next steps and continued connection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent overview\n\n\n\nWe are inviting employers and neurodivergent job seekers to join us May 12\, 2026 from 9:30AM-12:30PM at West Chest University for NENPHL’s Connect and Learn MeetUp.  \n\n\n\nThis event is intentionally designed to increase meaningful connection between neurodivergent job seekers and employers\, while strengthening internship pathways through higher education partnerships. At the core of the event is a structured\, practice-based employer–job seeker rotation\, providing participants with supported opportunities to build confidence\, refine communication skills\, and form authentic professional connections. This approach reflects NENPHL’s focus on moving beyond surface-level networking toward relationships that support hiring\, internships\, and longer-term career alignment. \n\n\n\nPlease note: This is not a hiring event – you do not need to have openings in your organization. You do not need to be responsible for hiring to participate. You can be from any organization in any industry. \n\n\n\nHow the event will work: \n\n\n\nJob seekers will be stationed at individual tables\, where employers will approach and get to know the job seeker. Job seekers can share their elevator pitches\, resume\, and/or portfolios with the employer.  The employer will provide feedback to the job seeker; employers then move to the next job seeker.  \n\n\n\nPlease dress business casual for this event.  \n\n\n\nLunch & Learn Component  \n\n\n\nThe morning will conclude with a Lunch & Learn conversation featuring insights from higher education and workforce partners on supporting neuroinclusion and fostering a culture of belonging in the workplace. This discussion will offer practical perspectives on how organizations can create environments where neurodivergent individuals can engage\, contribute\, and grow\, regardless of an employer’s current hiring stage. Employers will leave with ideas they can reflect on\, share internally\, and explore further at their own pace. \n\n\n\nYour role as an employer: \n\n\n\nThis is a practice event for job seekers\, not a hiring event…although they would be incredibly grateful if there were opportunities. \n\n\n\nProvide at least one tip/encouragement for job searching \n\n\n\nListen to job seekers’ presentations\, and then provide feedback \n\n\n\nProvide information about your company and how someone with their skill sets could fit the mission \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nLocation: SECC Ballrooms (Rooms A–C) \n\n\n\nAddress: 155 University Ave\, West Chester\, PA 19383 \n\n\n\nTime: 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nParking\n\n\n\nPaid parking options: \n\n\n\n\nCommons Garage – 670 S Church St\, West Chester\, PA 19383\n\n\n\nCampus parking lots\n\n\n\nStreet parking\n\n\n\n\nPublic transportation: \n\n\n\n\n104 bus line – runs from 69th Street transit center in Philadelphia to West Chester University. SUMMARY:Retention By Design
DESCRIPTION:Title: Retention By Design \n\n\n\nDescription:  \n\n\n\nOrganizations continue to make progress in attracting a diverse workforce\, yet retention remains a persistent challenge. In many cases\, this challenge is not rooted in a lack of commitment\, but in how work systems are designed and implemented day to day. Inclusion is often treated as a set of parallel initiatives rather than an integrated approach to how expectations\, communication\, and support are structured. \n\n\n\nThe Retention By Design Event focuses on how inclusive workplace systems support people to stay\, grow\, and contribute over time. \n\n\n\nRather than centering on a single employee group\, this event examines how intentional design choices benefit a broad range of workers. Through applied discussion\, real-world examples\, and peer exchange\, participants will explore how inclusive systems can reduce friction\, improve clarity\, and strengthen long-term retention. \n\n\n\nThis event is designed for professionals who want to better understand how inclusive workplace systems influence retention across roles and teams. Participants will gain insight into how everyday practices shape employee experience and where modest\, intentional adjustments can create meaningful impact. Attendees will also benefit from learning alongside peers who are navigating similar challenges\, creating space for practical exchange rather than abstract discussion. \n\n\n\nStrategic Takeaways: \n\n\n\n\nA framework for retention-focused system design\n\n\n\nA practical understanding of intersectionality in the workplace\n\n\n\nExamples of policy and practice changes that improve retention\n\n\n\nLessons from real workplace experiences\n\n\n\nClear next steps for the application of learnings \n\n\n\n\nSpeakers and titles: \n\n\n\nFireside Chat: Autism at Work Employment Data  \n\n\n\n\nMars Sharrock – Program Director\, The Wardrobe\n\n\n\nAbby Jayroe – SVP of Strategy\, Next for Autism\n\n\n\n\nPanel Discussion: Designing Systems for Retention \n\n\n\n\nSuja Mathew – Wellbeing Program Manager\, Virtua Health\n\n\n\nIsabel Fields – ESG Manager\, Hearst\n\n\n\nBrady Esham – Boston University\n\n\n\nKristin Austin – VP Culture and Community Impact\, Rewriting the Code\n\n\n\nTheresa Velykis – Members and Community Director\, SHRM\n\n\n\n\nLightning Rounds: Taking Action  \n\n\n\n\nShiloh Philpot – Sr Program/ Portfolio Analyst\, TD \n\n\n\nEv Smith – Director of Operations\, A Step Up Academy \n\n\n\nCait Russell – COO\, Multiple\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAccessibility: \n\n\n\nNENPHL is committed to creating welcoming\, accessible\, and neurodiversity-affirming event spaces. SUMMARY:Cities of Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:A City of Inclusion is a city where all people with disabilities lead healthy and fulfilling lives as respected members of their communities. Using an approach driven through collective impact\, Cities of Inclusion brings together community members\, disability advocates\, and leaders across the business\, health\, education\, government\, and nonprofit sectors to transform the way systems work together across a city to be more inclusive for all peoples with disabilities. Cities of Inclusion focuses on five core pillars of education\, employment\, health\, housing\, and access to information & services. Within each pillar\, we identify how to make the systems people with disabilities navigate more accessible and better positioned to ensure individuals can access what they need to be successful.
