Relevance to Neurodiversity:

  • We are committed to supporting neurodivergent employees and making our workplace neuroinclusive. We have a global ERG dedicated to leading the conversation and fostering the relationship between neurodiversity and our Organisation.
  • About TH!NK/Neurodiversity
    • Neurodiversity refers to the cognitive differences in how we think, learn, communicate and process information as normal variations of the human brain.
    • Neurodivergent conditions include but are not limited to ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
    • It is estimated that around 15-20% of the population are neurodivergent. But because neurodiversity is a type of diversity that you can’t see, we’re not always aware of the communication or learning challenges faced by our colleagues.
    • We realise the first step is education and awareness about what neurodiversity truly encompasses, and as a Company, we are committed to learning from our neurodivergent colleagues about how we can work together to ensure these employees are supported and celebrated for their differences, enabling them to show up to work performing at their best.
    • We know that bringing together different thinking is what spurs Growth Through Innovation. People from a neurodivergent background can contribute in meaningful ways to business growth through attributes such as single-mindedness, attention to detail, innovative thinking patterns, diligence and creativity.
    • This is why we are committed to making our workplace neuroinclusive, through efforts such as ensuring better hiring processes that do not exclude neurodivergent candidates, and identifying easy modifications to the workplace environment that can support sustainable employment opportunities.
    • We are also developing support systems for our neurodivergent employees and education to build allies throughout AstraZeneca.
    • Furthering our commitment to neuroinclusion, AstraZeneca is one of the founding members of Neurodiversity in Business (NiB), a new industry forum set up to support neurodivergent employees, working with businesses in the UK to help lead changes in this area. NiB works with businesses by sharing best practice. Its mission is to help develop more neuroinclusive workplaces.
    • We have a global Employee Resource Group, TH!NK, dedicated to leading the conversation and encouraging learning around neurodivergent individuals, parents/family members of neurodivergent individuals, and most importantly the relationship between neurodiversity and our workplace.
