— NEXT for Autism

Specific Relevance to Neurodiversity:

  • Celebrating our 20th anniversary, NEXT for AUTISM remains steadfast in our quest to change the paradigm for how individuals with autism thrive throughout their adult lives. This is accomplished by leveraging autistic and neurotypical stakeholders and partnering with regional and local entities to enhance services. Our leadership team and governing board consist of diverse perspectives, including a 13-member Advisory Board, of which more than 50% of the members are autistic. This team of experts is compensated to weigh in on relevant topics directly affecting the autism community and helps NEXT for AUTISM identify paths to solutions.
  • Driven by our deep belief that individuals with autism deserve to live fulfilling and productive lives, NEXT has two decades of experience launching ground-breaking initiatives like the NYC Autism Charter Schools, the first in the state of New York to focus exclusively on children with autism, Hunter College Autism Research Practice and Policy Center providing advanced degrees to practitioners through New York State and the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain, a state of the art diagnostics and support center with New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia Medical Center and Weill Cornell.
  • Each new initiative is aligned with the corresponding life stage of individuals living and growing with the disorder, incorporating best practices and state-of-the-art interventions. The autism community is diverse and represents families and individuals with varying experiences. NEXT for AUTISM is committed to hearing and including diverse perspectives in all that we do and directly impacting the community through our strategic programming.
