“As one of the nation’s premier pediatric health care systems, we’ve made a promise to do whatever it takes to prevent and treat even the most disabling childhood conditions.”

Relevance to Neurodiversity:
- Nemours Children’s Health has begun building an inclusive system for hiring and supporting neurodivergent staff. The Department of Human Resources is partnering with the Swank Autism Center to develop a more formalized system of pathways and supports across departments. We currently have several autistic/neurodivergent students and adults who work internships and paid positions through a contractor in different hospital departments. The Swank Autism Center also launched a Healthcare/Healthcare Advocacy internship for autistic college students last summer and facilitated mentoring experiences for college autistic students interested in careers in medicine/healthcare. Nemours also has an Autism Friendly Hospital Initiative that works to create inclusive, sensitive environments across the hospital and increase understanding about the needs of autistic people among Nemours staff.
