Mike Hess is the Founder and Executive Director of Blind Institute of Technology (BIT), a global nonprofit dedicated to closing the employment gap for professionals with disabilities through training, employment placement, and accessible technology initiatives. After two decades managing multimillion-dollar tech projects for Fortune 500 companies, Mike founded BIT to challenge stereotypes and create career pathways where disability is seen as a strength. The BIT Academy – the only Salesforce-approved training provider for professionals with disabilities – offers accessible, no-cost courses to all professionals with disabilities in Salesforce Administration, Digital Accessibility, Platform App Builder, and Agentforce, with more on the way in 2025. For some graduates, the Academy can be a steppingstone into BIT’s two U.S. Department of Labor–registered apprenticeship programs, backed by an $8M Disability Innovation Fund grant, which offer paid hands-on experience and potential job placements with leading companies.
