Why is neurodiversity important to you or your organization?
Neurodiversity is encapsulated by Spectrum Scholars’ values, students, staff, and our shared vision to support autistic communities on and off campus through collaboration, advocacy, research, education and service.
What services, resources, or initiatives does your organization provide to support neurodivergent employment? (org only).
Our Career Counselors work with every student in our program to help them identify goals, build skills related to employment, support them in obtaining internships and jobs, and serve as a sounding board a and ally throughout the fluid experience of finding a job. They develop workshops, partner with campus partners, and do an incredible job in ensuring each student is following their self-defined career path.
What is the best part of your work in neuroinclusive employment advocacy?
Witnessing students/individuals build their unique set of skills, competence, and experience and translating that to a meaningful employment opportunity.
What inspired your advocacy work, and what impact do you hope to make?
I’m inspired by the people I work with and serve, and my hope is to make a positive impact on the lives of every person I have the opportunity to work with.
